Am I allowed to switch house insurance halfway through the year?

I am really clueless about this sort of thing, to my shame. I have discovered that I could pay £10 per month less for my household insurance, and get accidental damage coverered too. But I normally renew in December and I don't know if it is possible to switch any time, or if I have to wait until then. I pay by monthly DD. Does anyone know if this is generally allowed?

Depends on the terms of your policy. Most ones where you pay monthly it is considered 'credit' (eg a small loan that pays the full premium which you pay back at £x per month). If it is one of these you might have to pay the 'outstanding' payment amount before they let you switch.

Ah, I was worried about that. I might have to ring the company then, because the terms and conditions don't make it immediately apparent
