Payments on statement that weren't made by us!

Has anyone else had this? I've just been looking through our statement on internet banking, and there's half a dozen payments I can't place. I'm pretty sure they weren't made by us - 3 are for a games website dh says he's never visited, one is for a mobile company we've never heard of, and 2 for 02 prepay - dh is with Virgin and I'm on a contract! It looks like someone has our card details? Would I get the money back? How do I prove it wasn't us?!

thieves use your card details to top up mobile phones (prepay) to check that it works. Then they clear out your account! Good job you're getting it sorted asap!

and yes, you should be able to get the money back. This happened to my brother recently and the bank refunded him no problems.

I would think the bank would recognise the pattern and stand the loss (though they might not be quite so generous in the current banking climate). Barclaycard Fraud Dept contacted DH when someone tried to top up a phone using his card details. They spotted that it was unusual activity and rang to check. I hope you do not end up out of pocket.

My earlier post must have gone awol - think my mn had a wobbly! I cancelled the cards, and went through the transactions I thought were dodgy with the bank. There are 6 I know weren't made by us, all in the last 2 weeks - total value around £150, hope we get that back. Glad your bro got his money back cordonbleugh.
