'Trusteer Rapport' - should I download it f my internet banking?

My on-line bank is offereing this as a security thing - it comes up before I log in.
Is it official? I am paranoid about downloading anything that will give some fraudster direct access to my account!

I'm HSBC and it was recommended for there - have downloaded it and all seems fine - you can use it on other sites as well - where ever you have to enter a password. It is legit because I had a personal message from HSNC about it.

I've had the message on 2 different accounts that I have, I haven't downloaded it yet but I'm pretty sure its legit.
