Am I going mad or is it our mortgage lender?

I got a quote for a new mortgage a few days ago from my bank. Thought it a good idea to go to our existing lender to see if they can offer us a better deal.

But because we overpaid a few years ago they won't even give us an illustration until they have repaid us the overpayment amt! Not even a few numbers to let us know roughly where we stand. So BM want us to go through the pallaver of requesting the money back, and having our mortage payments increase every month before they can even tell us how much they will lend us. Even though I've already got a quote from a rival lender.

Is that a bit mad?

How crap!! They should be able to tell you exactly where you stand. Anyone would think they were not interesting in lending money??

Hmmm deirdre I was wondering if that is exactly it, they don't want to be lending

My own bank was falling over itself to lend to us.
