Am newly separated and trying to sort out my bills and bring the monthly outgoings down.

I pay about £65 per month for broadband/TV/ phone, with BT line rental of an extra £10 I think it is. I am with Tiscali/TalkTalk and their TV reception is pants here anyway so am looking to change for that reason too.

Who are you with and do you get good service/reception? Am after a total package - no hidden extras that I seem to pay each month!
Or is it such a bind changing that I am better off staying with them?

Thanks

I did this last year when I separated.

I pay between 37-42pcm to Sky

This is for broadband
Sky tv ( basic package with kids added)
Phone - free anytime land line calls

The reason for the variation is additional phonecalls I make ie to 0800/0845 and mobile numbers

Was not a hassle, but had sky tv anyway - they sorted most of it out

When I separated I decided to do without a landline. I have a freeview box, and a mobile phone and mobile broadband both with o2. Get 700 minutes, plus unlimited texts, in my package so can see no need for a landline. The 2 together come to £40 a month.

Thanks for the answers.

Norks - do you have to pay BT for the line rental and if so how much?

Have tried to sort out getting sky but they say my landline is not active which it is as i was ringing them on it!! Anyone had this problem? Tiscali telling me their computers are down (great service?!)so cant explain anything.
Am very tempted to do without one like you WhyMeWhyNot but the bad reception sometimes puts me off

Virgin: Broadband, Large tv package, telephone with line rental, free evening and weekend calls all for £34 a month.

I did have my telephone with BT which was costing me £35 a month, the broadband and TV with virgin for £30.50 a month on top of the phone charge so I ditched BT. I pay via direct debit.

ChippyMinton · 18/03/2010 16:03

It's the anytime package - but it's a bit dearer now (for new customers - might be worth asking how much to upgrade your existing package).

ChippyMinton · 18/03/2010 16:05

Meant to say, it also included a wireless router, and a man to install it. The only extras are calls to mobiles and premium numbers etc.

BlackYellowRed · 18/03/2010 16:10

virgin media (direct debit)
broadband internet £25 (10mb speed i think unlimited)
phone £8.45 (line rental with itemised billing, caller display and free calls evening and weekend) + call charges

sky (direct debit)
family package: £11

with both haggled for discounts!

Sky with 4 out of the 6 options and no sky movies or sky sports, think is music, discovery type, kids and lifestyle with broadband and phone (except it won't work for me) 26 a month. I want a sky+ box but they are just pushing HD one at the mo which I don't want as it is then also an extra 12 odd per month. Mine does me fine!!

Adair · 18/03/2010 21:58

£30.50 for Virgin Media (inc line rental) a few calls on top (maybe £4 per month?)

Wanted the Tiscali package Chippy had, but we moved in to this house which alreayd had Virgin... Wish we'd stuck with talktalk/tiscali. Terrible, unreliable service. Grrrr... Am going to attempt to argue my way out of the contract so I can go back to Talktalk (£22 for phone and broadband and anytime calls, no tv but freeview fine for us/iplayer via laptop).

Sky have an offer at the moment £44 a month for Sky + HD plus phone and broadband...

Adair · 18/03/2010 21:59

('active' means BT line. I thought Talktalk counted as a 'BT line' though...)
