car insurance - how important is protecting no claims?

My insurance is up for renewal and i used one of the comparison websites. Although the quotes were all very good I checked the first 12 or so and not one of them offered protected no claims so I can't compare like with like. How important is it I'm wondering to have protected no claims when I can save £100 on my premium if I dont have it?

TIA

You need to weigh up to cost of having a policy with NCB and the cost of having an accident and losing it. If you have several years no claims its worth protecting it.

Do a few quotes without any claim free periods to help you work out the cost.

thanks onadiet... going to pay for the NCB - I have 6 years to protect so we reckon it's worth it.
