A bounced cheque and I can't stop worrying- Please help!

Hi,
I have an arranged interest free overdraft. I am £1000 in 'real' money with a £800 overdraft too.
I wrote a cheque for £1100 but it bounced.

Is this because I want to take £100 from my arranged overdraft? Why is this not possible?
Will I be able to transfer the money from my account to another in the branch?

Thanks for the help, I really need to know!

If you have an arranged overdraft, then the cheque should not have been stopped.

is that the reason it was stopped?

You need to check that first - just to make sure there wasn't another problem with it (wrong year for example?)

Then check that your overdraft hasn't been cancelled (this can happen if you haven't used it in a while or if you don't have a regular income going in there - banks have become a lot more cautious about overdrafts!)

Above and beyond that, check your balance - maybe you don't have as much money as you think?

Very strange - do you have online banking and can double check available funds?

I just checked my balance and it says my available balance is what I thought it was so I assume that my overdraft hasn't been cancelled.

Maybe I put the wrong date on the cheque but until I know tomorrow morning I think I will worry all night!!

Yes it says my balance is £1000 and available balance is £1800.

This is right, isn't it?

If your balance is what you think it ought to be, I wouldn't worry.

Almost certainly the cheque has been stopped for some other reason - the date is the biggie - early January is prime time to get the year wrong!!

I bet I put '09

Bloody hell.

Thanks for the help. I've had real money worries in the past and this was enough to make my blood run cold yet again!
