N Power, DD and duel fuel discount

npower put our gas dd payment up by a silly amount - i phoned them up and they immediately plucked out a lower figure from thin air ("computer generated" apparently!). i asked them when i would get my £100 dual fuel reduction; they said this would happen in April. they also mentioned that i could "leave at the end of the month" and not have to pay back the discount once it had been applied - is this correct or are they putting me in precisely the opposite situation to what they promise?

My understanding is that npower customers get the DF discount applied at the end of the first year (i.e. in arrears) and once applied they can't take it away - so they are correct you could leave and still get the cash.
