Hi, I want to open a bank account for my daughter (she is five) for birthday money etc HOWEVER when I opened one at my bank for my son I was subjected to an hour long interview in a back room where they proceeded to try to sell me every single product they had.

So.......is it possible to open one online and avoid being tortured like that?

I opened a Save4it and Monthly saver account at the Halifax online for my DD who was newborn at the time. It was easy as I already bank there - try whatever bank you have your current account with and it should be no problem. Had to take some ID down to a branch but it was all dealt with at the counter very quickly.

So you still have to see them in person then? There is no escape!
