anyone else not 100% sure how much £££ comes in and goes out?

I like the threads about how much people spend on various things as then can think about it and look up bank statements online etc

sometimes am a bit to discover how much we spend on stuff

but otherwise just bumble along a bit cluelessly, self employed so tends to be feast or famine - just wondering if anyone else lives like this or if you have all committed to memory your income and expenditure

Well, it seems rude not to answer your thread!

I do know exactly what comes in and what goes out, mainly because I have been silly in the past and I never want to be there again.

I have a note on my computer (I refuse to call it a spreadsheet!) with the dates that everything goes in and out, as DH and I get paid on different days of the month, so we share the d/d's between the two dates. I also look on internet banking almost everyday, just to check it's all going as it should.

When it comes to the fun spending money though, it does rather slip through my fingers!

ah thank you Maureen so you have learned the hard way?

is going to be one of my new year resolutions I think, not to learn the hard way but just to keep better track of it all

unfortunately when I look closely it is a bit depressing but that's probably January for you?

I'm quite sure you're not alone. I have a pretty clear idea of how much comes in every month, and what goes out, but I don't think dh does! (and he wouldn't even if I wasn't here...)

No, I don't do bumbling

Although I do do shock and horror at how much goes out each month
