me and dp have 3 children, currently i work part time, dp full time and we get some child tax credits and a small amount to our childcare.
what would happen if i were to go to uni and study ?
i could poss keep my job on weekends but not sure i would have the time , would we have to survive on dp wage alone? wat about childcare costs etc? not sure i would qualify for student loan as i have had bad credit in past but now its almost cleared, also not sure we would qualify as dp is earning
i just feel like i want to better myself and maybe do something useful !

I did this in September and was badly advised in the student finance department. I was told tax credits would stay the same as I was on and they would pay my childcare, so gave up my full time job and applied for loans/changed tax credit etc.. I was actually only entitled to 4,500 student loan, 240 working tax credits due to DP working and tuition fees paid. I'm lucky that I am only in 2 full days and so child care doesn't cost that much but if you can keep your job on at weekends (16+ hours) you'd be better off.

I also save 25% on council tax so that helps a bit, you might get free school meals and clothing grants too.

Sorry for another post! AFAIK credit rating has nothing to do with getting a student loan but I could be wrong

Yes, credit rating doesn't apply. I think if you are studying full time, you should forget the job. I study full time and have three children. That is quite enough to be doing. Unless you have a massively supportive dp.
