just curious as i spend nearly £90 per month (including car)but there are so many other insurances i should have and keep being offered

i currently have car, contents, and health insurance and have tonight been persuaded to get accident insurance which im debating weather to keep or not as all together all these insurances is so much money

car insurance about £20 a month, dh about the same

house and contents £15

mortgage life £25

life cover until the kids are 18 £15

Rainbowinthesky · 23/12/2009 18:59

Our car insurance includes aa type cover. We have 2 big but old cars.

shonaspurtle · 23/12/2009 18:59

About:

£25 (car)
£14 (contents)
£7 (building)
£6 (cat)
£20 (life - mine & dh)
£10 (life - to cover mortgage, should get round to merging that into one policy)

So, that's over £70 . More than I thought, but I don't think I could afford to be without any of them, whilst I can find the £70 anyway.

Rainbowinthesky · 23/12/2009 18:59

Forgot life insurance - another £30 I think.

beyondfurious · 23/12/2009 19:03

£60 - cars
£45 - home insurance plus
£30 - union subs
£30 - 2 pets

£165 a month

all been renegotiated in last few months so as cheap as possible

beyondfurious · 23/12/2009 19:04

plus life and critical illness for 2 people

so £230 in all

NancyDrewRocks · 23/12/2009 19:04

Car = about 200 (we are abroad and you have to pay a % of the value so it is abit skewed)

Building/contents (house in UK) = 32
Extra jewellry = 15

Life insurance = 100

HerHonesty · 27/12/2009 19:21

if you are going to loose one it would be health, as there is an alternative. what type of accident insurance have you bought? is it asu?

socute · 27/12/2009 19:32

Car = £40
House = £14
Dog = £14
Washing Machine = £6

total = £74,it all adds up but is worth it for peace of mind.

glasgal · 03/01/2010 21:40

I'm amazed! The insurance companies must be making a fortune. I pay £17 for the car and £18 buildings. Only pay these because I have to. We can't afford any others.

Contents-we have nothing worth stealing

Life- we've had to cut from 2 to 1 incomes anyway due to redundancy

Pets- cant afford them + no garden

Critical illness is a waste of money

same goes for cover on appliancies

Health- something I might consider if we had a £50k+ income

duckyfuzz · 03/01/2010 21:47

about £120 which includes:

building and contents with emergency call out and legal = £25
life cover = £27
cars we pay annually about £300 each for 2 cars so £50 a month
also union subs £10ish each

MitchyInge · 03/01/2010 21:48

I just have pets, car, land rover (I think)

buildings insurance is tied up with mortgage and I don't have contents because our back doors fell off a few years ago and it seemed a bit pointless to insure against theft when we have a gaping hole in the back of the house that anyone could walk through? only insure the vehicles because I HAVE to, otherwise would just insure the animals

have never been anxious enough about our contents to insure them, though I suppose I could once NEW doors arrive sometime next week

horse and pony insurance about £65 a month
I can't remember how much the car was, about £700 a year I think
land rover about £500
dog only £10ish
cats about £28 or £38

MitchyInge · 03/01/2010 21:49

oh forgot work insurance and indemnity etc

one is about £100 a year and I forget the other

selby · 04/01/2010 19:56

Buildings & Contents - £24
My Car - £26
DH's Car - £45
Travel - £5
Health - £10 (extra for family cover)

We've been remiss on life cover since only DH has it through work (subject to continued employment obviously)
