anyone help? can an old employer claim over payment back after 7 years?

my daughter got a letter today aftr 7 years asking for £500 over payment it was not a headed letter infact looks like a bad photo copy and no number to contact!

sheas far as she new didnt owe them any thing.

what do we do?
