Under investigation by tax credits - anyone else had this?

Just received tax credit enquiry which outlines a mountain of paperwork both DH any myself have to provide by early december or else there will be a penalty. Apparently we've both to send it in duplicate each received a letter seperately. Anyone else has this as worries about what happens.

You won't have to send it in duplicate if you're in a joint claim - you may just have been sent a letter each.

There should be a number (not the helpline) on the letter for you to call for more info.

Ok thanks. Will give them a call but just worried as it's came out of the blue.

We had this happen to us. The letter looks scary when you first read it but the person who sent it was really nice to speak to on the phone.

It's really just their way of checking that what you've put on your claim form is true. The documents they ask for are really just a way of proving it.

We got a letter each but only needed to send in one copy of the documents. Once you send the documents in, it's all done very quickly. We got a letter back in less than a week saying that everything was fine.
