are premium bonds any good? have you won anything?

I'm looking to invest around £200 ish and I was thinking of buying some premium bonds, what do you think? Any good or should I invest elsewhere or buy something fabulous instead?

my mother wins something most months but i suspect he has shed loads of them.
we have £500 worth and have never won anything.
