.....how do I find out what it it?

We get our gas and electricity from Swalec, pay by direct debit, had our last 6-monthly statement in January(ish) when I think we were in credit on the electricity but can't really remember.

Just been checking the online banking and there's a credit from SWALEC for over a £100 that I know nothing about.

Could there be a genuine reason they've given us money (which we desperately need given a dead washing machine), if I just phone there customer services centre will be able to say what it is?

Please tell me I may get to keep it

Also, they have taken the direct debit for this month for electric (gas gone as normal).

Wish they'd not do things without telling you as this is getting a little worrying.

would it be the annual rebate for the overpayments if your account is in credit?

They are most likely crediting you back the amount you are in credit by. The power companies are coming under a lot of flack atm for setting their DDs too high and gaining from holding onto people'e money.

this happened to us and we didn't know until the next bill came in that they had done it.

Thanks both, I'm hoping that is what it is.

If so, it couldn't come at a better time, we might be able to actually buy a washing machine and still eat between now and payday

Now I just have to hope that they don't decide to take extra money off us if the gas is in debit!
