Having received the renewal pack it says my childcare costs for DD were £70 a week.

Then it hit me that she might still be at the same childcare place but she is now there as a pre schooler for free for 12 hrs a week - she doesn't got to any extra sessions.

How could I forget? What should I do?!
I'm going to be fined aren't I?

I'm aware I'll be paying it back but hopefully not all at once

Has anybody else done anything equally as stupid???

Are you talking about child tax credits? If so, ring them explain the mistake and they should be able to come to arrangement for you to repay the money, if you are still entitled to the benefit they may be able to reduce the payments until the overpayment is recovered.

I am not aware of any further penalty because of this mistake.

Try not to worry these mistakes happen.

Have you spent all the money already?

I was overpaid for 4 months at my last job, where I finished end of December. I informed work every month and phones HR at keat 2-3 times also.

The money is saved ready for when they call it back. I am just gaining interest at least.

I assume that at some point they will call for the money back, but they are taking their time!
