This is very probably an incredibly obvious thing that I'm asking about, but this is the first time I've done this, so bear with me!
We moved into our flat in September & the gas & electricity were both already supplied by E.On. I'm now reviewing our finances & am beginning to realise that we could apparently do with switching suppliers.
However, I'm not sure about the finer points of this! (Or maybe I've just misunderstood.) I'm finding it difficult to work out how much we're likely to be billed per year, as we've only been here over the autumn / winter period - obviously more expensive due to heating, lighting, etc. This makes it a bit more difficult to compare directly with other suppliers (although I'm still having a go!).
I suppose my question is mostly whether or not we really are paying over the odds as I think we must be?
Our current rates are:
Electricity
Primary units: 23.97p
Secondary units: 9.94p
Gas
Primary units: 6.219p
Secondary units: 3.388p
Also, I'm aware that energy prices are a bit up & down recently & I don't want to make a really stupid judgement call based on my ignorance as to what's going on. So any general advice as to what to look for / what to avoid doing would be really appreciated.
Sorry to be such a wet blanket about it all
