Another question for the lawyers, or anyone with experience of advertising and confidentiallity

A friend of my DPs has placed ads in a well known online directory in more than one area of london and it has cost him a significant sum. The adverts aren't out yet. The situation is that he is currently working for someone but wanting to establish himself alone. The boss found out about this and was rightly miffed i suppose, but tis a fair market and not like the friend was poaching work or anything. So the friend gave a months notice, the boss said he will just squeeze him out of the market. He puts multiple adds in under the same heading but different company names, phone numbers and addresses but it basically means he can collar a good proportion of the market. I think that in itself is unethical, but legal i guess?

The question i have is this - The friends ads aren't out yet. Yet his employer knows all the details, he claims to have a friend who works for the online directory - DP has advised friend to call the customer service and have words. I have said to seek legal advice?

Any thoughts?

Sorry, I don't want to ignore you but I don't think there's anything to add to what you've already said about speaking to the ad company re blabbing employee, and maybe seeking legal advice. Your DP would have to show that the indiscretion of an employee has cost him money, and he can't do that yet because he's not set up yet!
