Apparently they came to the door this morning - didnt hear them though. They put a letter through the door to say they'd be back. DP reckons that if they come back I don't have to let them in because he's not here - is that right? I'm scared now!!!

I have just been speaking to a bailiff and they multiply the amount by four, if they are taking goods. So a poxy £92 quid would be taken in the form of an item in your house that cost around 368 pounds.

Seriously?!?!?!?! Why do they do that?

Cuz they can, swiper. Why not lodge any quality items you have with friends for a bit, including white goods that are not your fridge or cooker? If you have a car, sign it over to a trusted relative for £1 or such.

Resale value, i imagine. I would get down straight away to the office, even if you only give them a bit it will bide you more time and put you to the bottom of the pile. I think once it has gone to bailiffs it is very difficult to get on a payment plan.

Also, too, they can't take anything that doesn't belong to you. So, if for example, you're paying Kays for your TV - just show them the bills/receipts. They can't take what you don't own.

If the debt is Dps, then I think they can only take things that belong to your DP?! I think it might have been different if he was DH. Talk to CAB.
