I got a man out to look at the boiler that i had that was recommended by my lodgers dad.

He came over and looked at it when she was home he said it was this part at this price - Thats fine. He came back fixed the part, the boiler stopped working again. We nudged the boiler again as we were in the cupboard and it fired up to life which was great.

It then died again so he came back. He said it was this much and this long. We thought it would not be greta to get it reapired and i would buy a new one.

He gave mea quote which was fine. I paid him half. He installed it and got it working. He said that he would come and remove the water tank the next day as it was too heavy for him.

He has not come back and he has disconnected the tank in the loft so we cant shower at all.

He has also left a wire coming from the fuse out of the cupboard into the plug so i cant shut my larder either.

All in all not happy with his work, he has not left the receipt for the boiler or anything.

What can i do? Have had new quotes from other people and they have said that it is a cheap boiler and it will cost another 800 to fix it totally.

Please help.

The moral of the story is: Always check Corgi registration!

Sorry that's not much help. I don't knoiw if you can do anything via small claims, but call your council and see if they have a "quality" tradesman scheme. Get him blacklisted.

yes i have learnt that lesson not that it helps me much.

ask him to put it right

ask for the certificate of gas safety and if he doens't comply, threaten him with small claims court

I have already asked for the reciept and just needed to know if i could before i threatened him with it.

He has rearranged the appointment over several evening - 6 nights but has never turned up.
