I'm pursuing a business colleague through MCOL for some money that he owes us. He actually asked us to make a cheque payable to himself personally on the understanding that he was going to settle an invoice with it. He didn't and disappeared with our money. He's filed an acknowledgement of service indicating that he will be defending all of the claim. I understand that the case will he heard in his local court which is a very long way from here. Please can you tell me where we go from here. Dow we have to attend, would there be any real benefit in us doing so?
