Bought boots on the Net and they haven't arrived. What redress do I have?

I bought a pair of boots from a company on the Internet. The promised delivery within 7 days. After a few days I realised that I had not had a confirmation email from them, so I looked on the Net to see if others had reviewed the company. I found a blog with a long, long, long list of people complaining about the company e.g that boots had not arrived, the company refused to return calls or emails, people not being able to get refunds etc.

I have left two messages on the phone and sent 2 emails but have heard nothing back yet. It has now been 10 days and given the reviews by others I am not inclined to give them benefit of the doubt that the delay is due only to Christmas.

I paid via Paypal, but not through my personal paypal account. Not quite sure how that works, or whether it could make a difference in terms of getting my money back.

Any ideas what I should do now?

If you paid through Paypal can't you put in a dispute and then if it is not resolved within a certain amount of time (think its about 28 days) you will get your money back. Not sure if that is right if it isn't your personal Paypal account.

Also does the money come from your bank account when funding Paypal payments or from a credit card. If it came from a credit card you can put in a dispute with them and they can deal with it for you.

Was it The Boot Fits by any chance?

Thanks Scuba. I will check out the paypal dispute procedure.

Yes, MrsMuddle, you're right. Have you had dealings with them?

I've just been sent an email by them saying the boots are out of stock but they will make me a pair and send them to me some time in January. But I want the now! They are still being advertised as available on their website.

Yes, I have had dealings, and I had a thread going a couple of months ago.

I opened a paypal dispute and then escalated it to the next level. I did get my money back, but it was the last day of the time limit that paypal sets before TBF got back to me with a refund.

I did get a nice email from the company, apologising and saying that they'd been overwhelmed by demand. But, like you, I ordered then read all the other forums complaining about the service.

You will get your money back through paypal though, but probably not for four weeks.
