I came off of IS last week - having started a job yesterday, we rang the TC at the job centre last monday and informed them of my changes in circs. my advisor said I should get approx £198 per week (£50 child credit and the rest being WTC incl my child care costs of £80 - this is the 80% amount) I also asked for it to remain weekly as I need the money weekly.

I rang on sat as I had an extra £1 odd in my payments and was told it would be sorted out on tues day night. I rang again today (I know keep ringing etc but am anxious it's right esp as I don't want ot get over paid & owe them, and also the nursery have given me a bill for this month of £440 incl the deposit, and will be giving me another for £324 at the end of this month. So as you can appreciate i'm getting anxious I can't pay it.

anyhow today I was told i'd recieve £9 in WTC's on the 22nd until the 12th jan when i'd get £300 every 4 weeks there after.

I told the man I wanted it weekly and he said he could do this, but i'm slightly concerned that somehting's a miss here - £300 4 weekly doesn't = £148 per week wich I was advised i'd recieve.

I have 1 DS over 1, work 16.5 s a week and my earnings for the periods till 5th april will be approx £2000.

now if you've got that far =- my question is do I wait it out and hope/pray when PI get the paper work or do I ring them again? I knew I should have trusted myself & rung from home myself instead of letting the woman in the job centre (who was new and struggling to do everything tbh) convince me I should do it there - I confirmed who I was and she did the rest.

Just done a quick calculation for you, and as far as I can work out you should get just under £120 a week in CTC and WTC without the childcare costs which I'd assume you would be entitled to 80% of which all together would make around £200 a week. I'd phone them up again and double check all of the figures you will be receiving AND check that the job centre woman has given them the correct details for you (salary and childcare costs etc). If you want me to explain how I worked it out (to compare with their figures) let me know.

Meant to say I'd phone as the post will be v bad at the mo for getting your award notice through.

no silly that's what I worked it out to be as well. (along with the woman in the office on her computer) also to have a lump sum as well - which tbh i'm not bothered by, it's the weekly amounts I am iycwim.

will have to give them a call back this avo and double check the figures I think.

seems silly to me that if it is right I can't afford to work as i'll be a sight lot worse off - and I was already below the poverty line I think.

well, it would appear that there was a 'task' on the system, to be actioned last week which wasn't for my child care! and also I had no earnings written down either! so as of tonight everything is as it should be - but it's prob not going to be done in time for xmas's payments now is it?

It could well be, if they sort it out they will just pay you the extra without telling you, and they've often done it to me on other days rather than my usual payment day, so I'd say keep an eye on your bank balance, hope it does get sorted in time for xmas

BlackLetterDay · 17/12/2008 21:02

I dunno sometimes they are quite quick, especially if its a change in circumstance rather than a new claim. I waited 3 months for my new claim and got a lump sum, as well as weekly payments. I have never waited more than a week for changes to be applied to my claim.

well I rang today on the off chance and it's all sorted now, ready to pay next mon, tues & weds so thank you very much bee, you've been a right help over my TC threads
