Warning - do NOT try the Cinema Paradiso DVD rental scheme

I signed up for the free DVD rental trial with Cinema Paradiso, ordered and watched 2 films and posted them back before cancelling the account.

Cinema Paradiso is claiming it hasn't received the DVDS (which I know I posted back, and have filled in two forms to give them exact details), and are debiting £20 per DVD from my credit card, plus £9.99 month's rental.

They say I need to give proof of postage - which I haven;t got because obviously the idea of DVD rental by post is the convenience - I can't imagine anyone goes into a post office to get proof of posting when the idea is you just put it in the postbox.

My credit card company have refunded the £9.99 after I complained, and say I'll need to raise a dispute with them for the other £40 after Cinema Paradiso takes the money (it's not on my statement yet).

I'll probably get it back via the credit card company - but I just want to warn everyone about this scam - I don't believe for a minute they haven't had the DVDs back, and even if they haven't, it's outrageous to demand £20 per DVD or ask for proof of posting.

I can believe they didn't get them - things go missing in the post all the time. What a strange thing to say.

I'm aware that this thread was started 12 years ago, but I just wanted to give my 2p's worth.
I have been with Cinema Paradiso ever since LoveFilm closed, so 3 years now, since 2017, and they have been nothing short of excellent.
The discs arrive quickly, the discs I post back and received quickly, and I have never been blamed for any losses.
I would highly recommend Cinema Paradiso for DVD/ Blu-Ray rental. They are now the only company in the UK that provide this service, and I honestly don't know how they keep going as I'm aware most people stream movies now. I personally always prefer watching on a disc, and when I get bored of movies, I can get episodes of Fawlty Towers, Mixed Blessings and Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em to pass the time.
Cinema Paradiso may not have been great years ago, but they are nothing short of excellent now.
