I get money every month from ex p (he didnt pay for 8 years, then started paying because he wanted access, now he changes jobs as often as possible but I get a few months payments, then they stop, then start again etc etc)

Anyway have phoned them today because my payment last month was £30 short, this is usually a sign he has finished working at current employer

So I ask why and they tell me its because he owes huge arrears to the other poor cow he knocked up and so they allocated her a bigger payment last month

Now Im not being funny and yes she is entitled to get that money back but surely not at my expense?? They said I can write and complain but that its the computer system that allocates payments and they cant really see what the problem is.

HELLOOOOO Im £30 short because he owes her more than me, how does that work?

Any advice would be great thanks

Ah yes they do this. They did it to me but as the amounts were so tiny (£2.50 a week!) I have never bothered to make an issue of it.

Its because (I think) there is a limit to how much he can be made to pay (set % of income) and it has to be shared round howver many children there are.

Shit I know

Overmydeadbody · 24/10/2008 16:58

that is ridiculous

mosschops30 · 24/10/2008 17:01

both me and her have one child, so how can they take money off me to give to her, its bizarre, and the fact that the people on the phone think its completely normal.

When I asked if I would get it back this month they said 'oh i dont know, they may pay her more again if shes owed it'. How come if I have a payment schedule that I am apparently owed then I dont get it

Aaaarrggghhhh, I am so angry

Contact you MP?

girlandboy · 26/10/2008 16:47

I expect that when your payments are in arrears then her payments will fall short. Sensible hey!

nooOOOoonki · 26/10/2008 16:53

It's there some sort of first in there rule.

Ie the first to make a claim is gets more than the next one(s).

shelleylou · 26/10/2008 17:12

If he has arrears they are able to take 40% of his wages to cover the backpayments. Would have thought they would have done this so you get your amount the other woman gets her amount and any other shes owed.
Its really shit for you though i dont get how they can do that as in their words "our concern is getting money for the children"
