I need someone to advise on mortgage and pensions, will happily do it over the phone. Any ideas?

I can send you details of mine if you have CAT but to be honest the world of independent financial advice is not great. Our chap is the third that we have tried and the best so far.

The trouble with independent financial advice is that the practitioners are not especially well trained and they are paid commission for the products that they sell. Which makes me think - well there are bound to be lots of other products out there that do as well or better, but they don't know them and consequently don't sell them.

Yes Quattro that's my experience too, I guess that's why I was wondering if anyone had someone good. Our last one would make endless appointments with us and never do what he said he would in the meantime so we got nowhere.

we have a fantastic one in merseyside, who we have used several times. he has always talked through various options and scenarios with us, never tried to talk us into anything and always been upfront about the amount of commission for each product
