I have a house full of wet clothes - should I shove them all in the tumble dryer - two loads - or put on the heating?

Could you tumble them to take the worst off the wetness, then hang them out on (cold) radiators or airers to dry the rest of the way? Shouldn't need heating to get from just damp to dry. If there's anything you need urgently, tumble it all the way dry
