car insurance - off the road

My car is currently officially off-the-road for car tax purposes and in my driveway. I don't need to pay car insurance now, do I?

I think you have to phone up the DVLA and tell them that it's off the road, then you won't, I think.

You only need cover to drive on the road. However bear in mind that no cover means in the event or fire (unlikely) or theft you wont be covered. Can you afford to buy another if it is stolen?
