Ds2 is 18 and has autism with no learning disabilities but severe communication problems. Also seems to think that any problems that he ignores will be solved on their own. I'm dyslexic and struggle with admin.

I've tried and tried to set up a student bank account for ds. It always ends with him shaking and rocking and me ending up in a computer says no situation. We've gone into the branch and been told to do it online. Yesterday I got further than usual with it and then ds got an email saying his id was unacceptable. It didn't say why it was unacceptable.

I'm really struggling with doing anything like this for ds now he is an adult because most of the time they insist on speaking to him and he can't.

What am I supposed to do? He needs a bank account to pay for stuff and he is going to university on Saturday so it needs sorting by then.

There are banks that will let you open one in person Nationwide for example.

I would, 1) go to the bank’s website and look for guidance on acceptable id types, such as a passport; 2) try a different type of id; 3) last resort, call the bank.

Before you do any of this make yourself a cup of tea/coffee and grab a biscuit. Then give yourself an hour to get it sorted. You will be fine. I had to log into Facebook yesterday, change my password, confirm my identity, select all the pictures with buses, check my email for the special code and then enter it….it was a nightmare.
