Paid arrears after final reminder but account still shows outstanding - panicking

I got sent a final reminder through the post to pay bill, I made payment yesterday midday through company website and have a receipt too.

It was a really scary formal letter because they said if balance not paid in 7 days they will take legal action, I obviously paid straight away after seeing letter but letter didn’t arrive same date it was posted and now the payment hasn’t automatically cleared I’m so stressed

It’s showing on my bank account statement that it has left my account (paid on debit card), however my account balance on system is still showing in arrears as if I’ve never paid and I’m really scared now. What happens if they take legal action tomorrow before payment reached, why hasn’t the payment reached automatically when normally transactions reach straight away? I can’t get through to customer service because closed on weekends

Please has anyone been in similar situation and knows what to do, I know it’s my fault for leaving it to final reminder but I’ve had personal life issues don’t want to get into

I contacted support on my banking app and was told the payment was “settled” so nothing to do with bank etc and to contact them again if nothing has happened a day later so they can provide further details for company to locate payment

They probably need someone in the office to match the receipt to account - call them in the morning

Just call them in the morning. It might not have cleared over the weekend.

You paid on Saturday and today is Sunday. It likely won’t show until Monday.

My account is still showing in arrears and when I called customer services they weren’t that helpful and just said check again tomorrow as today is a working day

I mentioned how I was sent a final reminder so was worried it wouldn’t show I’ve paid in time and they said all they could do was make a note that I’d called but they didn’t let me prove payment or anything, weren’t willing to locate the payment. I don’t know the call handlers name either so can’t even be sure they will make a note on system as this company has forgotten to do that on previous times I’ve called for other issues

Should I send an email to mention I had paid and maybe mention the receipt reference, will that be enough?

It can take a few days between leaving your account and showing up on the account you’re paying. I know PayPal for example can take 2-3 days to show on my balance. Check again later today or tomorrow.

You have a receipt and proof the payment left your bank.

Get on and enjoy the rest of the day.
