Is it normal for wedding lists to charge P&P?

My friend is getting married

she has her weding list with debenhams

went to her list and chose some stuff to get for her

was shocked to have £4 added on for P&P

surely every person who orders somethng doesnt have to pay P&P as well.... wouldnt it just arrive in 1 box?

Is this really normal for every guest to pay P&P individually from a wedding list when, as far as im know, its all delivered as one parcel?

yes, this is quite common but a real cheek I think.

Our wedding list gave us the option to pay upfront for all the P&P so our guests wouldn't have to - and we did it (cost us about £75) because we didn't want our guests to stump up or this on top of paying for a present.

You don't have to pay the p&p - just choose your gift and take it to the wedding yourself.

ok

if its normal its normal

would cost me more in parking and petrol than the P&P and given id have to make a special journey to tghe nearest town with debenhams (that i never go to) it would cost me more than the £4 to pay P&P

that's awful! With John Lewis' wedding list service it's all free, no matter how many times they have to redeliver.

It's a real cheek anyway because it's not like they will be posting every item separately is it? At most they should charge a fiver for the delivery of the whole list, like Ocado or something.

But I guess if that's their policy it's their policy - not much you can do about it. Maybe your friends could write a disgusted email afterwards.

my sister has kindly gone to debenhams for me (as she was 'in town' anyway!)

she has got the stuff, and even better it was IN THE SALE so cost even less than had i have got in online!

I can then wrap it myself (I already have paper etc) for a fraction of the price and take it along myself too.... much more personal!

note to self "when i eventually get married have a john lewis wedding list " (Im a john lewis / waitrose type person anyway! lol)
