PREMIUM BONDS JULY/AUG 2026

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/06/2026 21:48

PB have been about since 1957 so 80yrs next year

Each bond is £1. You have to buy in minimum of £25 so means 25 chances to win every purchase - years ago you could buy £1 at a time.

From July’s draw the expected prize rate will go from 3.3 per cent to 3.8 per cent while the odds of any £1 bond winning will shorten from 23,000 to one to 22,000 to one.

In August 2023, we had the highest 4.65%

The total prize pot will go from just under £376.2 million to £436.8 million — up £60.6 million.

So providing you have more than £100 you have better odds winning something from pb than winning the lottery 😄

And obviously far better than the lottery - you don’t lose your stake !!!!!!

https://www.saga.co.uk/money-news/premium-bonds

Bonds have to be in for a clear month before going into the draw

If you want to cash bonds in then usually takes 3 days to go into your account

Winnings can be reinvested if holdings are under £50k

This means they will go into the next months draw without losing a month

Or sent to named bank account if winnings take over FH /want winnings in bank account
More info here

www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/savings/types-of-savings/premium-bonds

The best time to buy premium bonds is on the last day of the month, as this means they are only held by NSI for one month and one day, without being entered into the prize draw.

PB to me is the fun and thrill each month of what if I win big and a millionaire - to then hoping win thousands to a day or two later being grateful if win £25😂

I have nowhere near the maximum and probably never will unless I win £50k + on pb

But only takes one £1 to win that million !!! Or in fact any prize

I love seeing the low holdings win high amounts

We've seen over the years £100 holding win a million (March 25) also a £100 holding win £100k and £50 win £25k and even £1 won £10k

Maximum is £50k per person so some do have all for family- mum dad and 2 kids so £200k etx

Those on the thread are varying from few hundred /few thousand - to 20/30k to full holdings of £50k

Everyone is welcome to join in whether small or full holdings

Obviously some people have better 'luck' than others and some worse - Ie full holdings and not winning anything a month or two or even longer

PB odds calculator below

https://pbprizes.com/calculator/

shows the interest rate of the winnings - obv anything over 3.80 % is good as if in an account you wouid be taxed so be more like 3%

The consistent winners are the 1.16 million people who have the maximum £50,000.

They hold almost half of all premium bonds and, at current odds of 1/22000 can expect a monthly stream of tax-free prizes:
two a month and three almost every other month, 28 or 29 a year totaling £1900 (3.8%) interest on £50k

So the median average will always be lower than the mean average.

This means that, with average luck, most people will win less than the prize rate each year, regardless of how many bonds they hold

To work out your own personal % rate
Winnings divided by amount have x 100

But many on here do have £50k and then consider moving it to an account that pays 4% if their bonds aren't doing very well as would then def get extra money
But remember savings /interest get taxed
PB and their winnings don't

So anything over 3% in winnings is considered good and 3.8% excellent

People dither whether to pull out from pb and put in high interest account if not winning anything so that they will def earn x amount of interest

But then lose the what if won a million or £100k

If you have PB but not sure if you have ever won esp if moved about a lot

There are 2 apps afaik
Cream - prize checker and if won previous month will show a pic - which we all get excited over 😂😂😂

Blue - the app its self works but the showing early often doesn't work for me but those who reinvest their winnings say it shows if won the day before app shows 🙀🙀🙀

Seems the higher the winnings the earlier it shows and can be from 6pm the night before the app shows

And to confuse things I have a White app that is a bookmark - which shows info/list 😄😄😄

Now this has been debated on MANY times but seems to be correct

When do we find out if going to get a visit from AM 😂

The two winners of the £1million prizes will be contacted by Agent Million (AM) 😂😂 the day before the first working day of the corresponding month.

There may however be exceptions to this, such as when the first working day of the month is a bank holiday, for example.

So
AM - Day before first working day - Millionaire knock /call

LIST - First day of working month showing all winners million to £1k winners - which I always put up for those who can't find it

APP - Day after first working day , including weekends - cream app showing all winnings

You can also check to see if have won via this link with your holders number

www.nsandi.com/prize-checker

Hopefully I've covered everything
Good luck one and all 😄

Good luck everyone !
Lots of really small ancient wins this month !

Vinorosso74 · 03/08/2026 12:29

Nothing for me on the HV list. Hoping for something, anything. I added some more last week so will increase my chances for next month!

Juat found this board ...ive had near as dammit £50k in premium Bonds for 18 months and have only won £1100 in all that time. Several months with £0.

Is this exceptionally bad?

Edited

I’ve won 1025 since Jan this year with nearly full holdings but that was bolstered by a £675 win last month (highest ever in 20 yrs) so I haven’t been very lucky though have won smallish amounts most months.

I haven’t had full holdings during the 20 years but prizes definitely increased since I added more money.

Looking back, despite only having just over £5k for many years, I used to win a few times a year and in 2012, won £25 five times. I know odds are worse than in the past but it’s interesting looking back at my prizes over the years. Every bond has same chance. Only takes one of them to win a million!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2026 13:03

Glad your dads bonds helped @JollyHostess101

@MyPlumHelper law of average with fh would be around £1800 I think with 4% but some don’t do as well but those who have less like me usually do quite well tho last 2mths nothing

Nothing on the list for me either, although there were 2 prizes with my holding amount - £1k each but in the wrong part of the country! Briefly got my hopes up.

My partner had a rubbish year last year on the same but this year has one £1000 £500 and several smaller prices. I think he is sitting around £2.5k so far. I think it ebs and flows but he has had his best year so far and has been holding them as long as i’ve known him.

MyPlumHelper · 03/08/2026 13:53

18 months is consistently bad for me then. Most ive ever had was £200 and most months is between £50 and £75 with several £0 months.

I know nothing is guaranteed but I am just a little bit disappointed that it has done so badly.

I did the calculator online about how lucky I am and it said that 99.9% of people with my amount of bonds would be expected to do better than I have.

That's a sobering thought, but equally, the odds of someone doing is it as badly as me, is quite low. Just wish something would give, and I could have at least one decent month. But I guess that's the risk you take. And I can't really complain.

guestusername · 03/08/2026 14:15

After my win in June’s draw (for anyone reading for the first time I won £100 with less than £400 holding), I didn’t expect anything in Julys draw and I was right 😂 I use however stuck some more money in which will be in Septembers draw 🤞

I was talking to a friend yesterday and she won £50 last month. She has less than £100 in there so it does show that small holdings do get picked out for the smaller prizes 😊

FiloPasty · 03/08/2026 14:19

Yes @guestusername my daughter had only £400 in there and won a £100 prize last year, so it def happens :)

Fingers crossed. I’m waiting to press the button on the prize finder when I wake up tomorrow:)

PremiumBondJovi · 03/08/2026 14:25

Woe is me, I cracked this morning and checked the HVW list rather than wait as usual for the full results tomorrow morning. Not a sausage again down to the £5k prizes for the BondJovis. I am having An Attack of the Irrational Disappointments again but holding out some Hope for a few crumbs from Evil ERNIE in the morning.

Good to see - even though alas neither are from the BondJovi clan <gnashes teeth> - the two extremely lucky new millionaires are a mix of less then half FH and FH.

Brilliant to see that 100 very lucky PBers with total holdings of between £5k and £10 have won prizes of between £5k and £100,000.

Good luck to everyone still to check the HVW list and to one and all of us for the full results tonight/tomorrow.

🍀🐈‍⬛🤞🙏

PremiumBondJovi · 03/08/2026 14:42

What's the hv list ..

It's the high value winners list, meaning the monthly winners of the £1m to £1k prizes @Toohardtofindaproperusername. The smaller prize results are released late tonight.

doodles55 · 03/08/2026 14:54

I know it has no significant bearing on prize winning, but my pic has changed from girlie in the rain ☔️ to ice cream boy 🍦
good luck 🍀 tonight 🙌

EightSteps · 03/08/2026 15:43

Nothing on the HV list for me.
Lovely to see the small/old holdings which have won though.
See you all in the morning for the monthly celebracommiserations.

I think we said you get a pic if won the previous month

but doesn’t mean you won this month

I had a win last month but no picture (yet) this month.

I haven't really noticed any correlation between picture / no picture and winning / not winning.

Kitchendilemas · 03/08/2026 17:08

I sold all of mine as the winnings were abysmal for full holdings. I kept on thinking….next month but then decided to cash them in

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 03/08/2026 17:11

I know it probably doesn’t mean anything anyway but where does everyone see the pictures? I’ve had a few wins but never seen a picture - I always have this screen, is that where everyone else sees it?

If you click on the green bit at the bottom of the screen that says you have won one prize this month, it shows the picture behind the value of the prize. The picture changes monthly.

@ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer if you click on the 1 prize this month, you should see a pic

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 03/08/2026 17:26

Ah thanks everyone, I see it now, I have the ice cream boy 😂

Sherunswithwolves · 03/08/2026 18:29

My niece has just bought a little crocodile toy. Its name is Ernie! I wish he'd visit - and make it snappy!

Hope we start to see some reinvestments soon.

Nugg · 03/08/2026 18:51

No big price for me which believe me at the moment even a little big price would just be so amazing for my family so let’s see what happens tomorrow good luck everyone xx

Feelinglucky2025 · 03/08/2026 18:52

I’m looking forward to hearing news of any early wins you all have the next couple of hours.

lucywho123 · 03/08/2026 19:56

No luck on HV list for me sadly. Someone in my area with much less holdings has won £50k though. They’ve only had the holdings 2 months … I’m so jealous :( Good luck to everyone for tomorrow
