My Virgin Money account - any paperwork?

I’ve opened an account with them but not received any letters or paperwork, are they all on line or should I get something?
It doesn’t feel right to put money in until I know it’s a real account!

Can you not log in and see the account on line and print out anything you want a hard copy of? There may also be a default paperless option that you could change (or not!).

They are a proper company, just make sure you go in through their official website, there can be similar looking clones for all sorts of companies out there these days so always be careful.

That’s what I’m worried about, that it’s some form of scam account.
Maybe I’ll feel better if I use a known high street bank instead, it’s just that Virgin have a better interest rate.

I have Virgin Accounts they are fine, just as with any bank just double check you are on the real site.

They are with Nationwide now, I think Nationwide took over most of their business and Octopus took the S&S part I've had S&S with Virgin for many years and savings.

I know exactly what you mean I opened an account with them with £1 then downloaded the app for apple app store
once account was on the app funded it

I've had a virgin money account for years, it's a perfectly normal bank. I can't remember I got a letter when I opened the account, I use the app.

Is there something specific that isn't included in the welcome email?

Posting to say this too. I need to find the Octopus stuff but I can still see my S&S account via Virgin Money. I don’t think the Nationwide split is fully complete yet so the more current account / cash savings is still with Virgin.

Virgin do/did have a high street presence when I opened my account a few years ago. I have been in several times over the years. As someone else said, they are in the process of merging with Nationwide anyway and they have branches in most places.

Virgin are very 'online' - I dont get any paper work from them which suits me fine, in comparision to Nationwide who insist on sending a paper letter every time you make a mortage overpayment (ie: every month for me) without a way to turn it to digital only, we even asked them in branch... so maybe that will soon be the norm with Virgin too!!

I think I must have had at least one thing in the post when I first opened mine, but they do love an email - have you checked your junk?

PersephoneParlormaid · 22/02/2026 07:40

I’ve had 2 emails but there’s no colour in it, like a red Virgin banner. My RBS emails have the logo.

I've just had a look at one of my emails, it does have a red heading, does yours have a sentence about your post code at the top? What email address is it from

It's vanishingly likely that you've somehow set up an account on some kind of fake website. @examadmin has remained me that they have branches as well, not sure why I had forgotten that, I was actually in one not that long ago 😀

The email address is [email protected]
And no, no postcode

Have you literally just set it up?

I got emails from the same address when I first opened my account (in late 2020, which did not include my postcode, but did have my first name) then a few days later I got emails with the red logo and their branding telling me that the switch had happened. I used the free switching current account service as I was moving from a different bank.

I've searched for that email address and that one doesn't have the red band or the post code, @examadmin is right those come once you've set up your online account

It's good to be suspicious but what you're seeing is totally normal

rwalker · 22/02/2026 14:33

Oh forgot to add when you fund it online it’s done via another bank when it checks the details for payment it doesn’t come up as virgin
