Cost of setting up a trust

Would anyone happen to know the rough cost to set up a trust to transfer and safeguard ownership of a property? We have been quoted around £4K but this seems very high so I wondered if that is normal or higher than usual. Thank you.

What you describe as a trust to transfer and safeguard ownership of a property might cover quite a range of corcumstances/complexity. For example if (like Angela Rayner) a person who may lack capacity is involved the complexity and time required will ramp up.

Presumably the quotes are from local(ish) solicitors?

If they're consistent with each other then they probably reflect the true cost.

Have they provided an itemised breakdown of time, steps to take and any disbursements (court fees?) incurred.

My work charges closer to 8k so seems reasonable to me (but our clients are UHNW so we don’t usually do a basic nil rate band trust for example).
