Does anyone know if you can set up a direct debit out of a bank savings account or can you only have them on current accounts??

TIA

I'm pretty sure you can have a DD going out af any account you like. Just ring your bank and they can tell you.

Most savings accounts do not allow them.

The whole point of a current account is that it can be used for various transactions, hence no or very little interest paid by the bank.

Savings accounts generally can accept direct debits into them, but not out.
