Anyone else not getting childcare costs back (or any response!) from UC?

I feel ghosted!

Did my monthly childcare costs as normal on 21st December ready for my statement on 28th December. Statement came through and no childcare costs (it’s about £200 worth and no different from any other month).

I put a journal message on and nothing. Since then I’ve put 4 different messages (choosing a different “topic” each time) and not had a single response.

In my desperation I’ve just put the costs on again in the hope it pokes someone to at least tell me off for adding them twice! I don’t have £200 just laying around for this months costs. I’ve tried calling and I’m getting nowhere 😫

Has anyone else struggled with a response? Could understand over Christmas but it’s mid January now!

You say you've tried calling but what do they say when you call. Can you specifically ask them to pass a message on to your case manager? Putting a journal message under the payments option usually goes straight to case manager. It may just be high staff sickness etc.

I’ve only got through once and I was told to add it to my journal 😫 I have never had problems with contact before (had all manner of payment issues when I moved from student to working) and they have always been quick to respond and brilliant. Now I have radio silence!

I had the same issue, I also added multiple messages under different topics. Eventually I got a standard 'we owe you some money' message with no explanation. Sorry to hear you're in the same boat!

Is so frustrating isn’t it! Childcare is so expensive and I really rely on the money. Let’s see what happens now I’ve added it on again 🤣

I got a response this morning! They also decided they have underpaid my childcare costs the last few months so got a mini windfall too. However the journal message of the amount was completely different from the letter amount. When I questioned it there was no apology just the same message again with the correct amount. I have put the extra to one side as it’s not the first time they have paid me wrong 😬
