Maternity Allowance is a tax-free allowance, but Statutory Maternity Pay is taxed.

You don't have NI deducted.

You are credited with class 1 NI Contributions while on MA.

Thank you

And then - after maternity allowance ends
And as we are getting child benefits then - the child benefit also gives ni credits yea?
Thanks

The person that needs the NI contributions needs to be the one that claims the child benefit fyi
