Where do I stand re; ebay taps that broke after 3 months?

I bought a tap from eBay last year, but because the kitchen wasn't ready, it didn't get fitted for 3 months, by which time I had left +ve feedback. Then after 3 months it broke, began leaking and not turning off. I sent it back and they replaced it, with the same type of tap. 3 months later this also broke, in the same way. I sent this back too, but of course it is now 9-10 months after I bought the original. The item on ebay has been archived, and I cannot go to ebay for any arbitration as it is outside the 3 months. Since January I have been emailing and writing to them, but they either just ignore me or keep coming back saying they can't find the item, that they never sold such a tap, and once, that I was 'trying it on.' - their words.
I wrote back, threatening legal action and that if I went to the small claims court that I would claim not only the cost of the tap (£50) but also the cost of returning it (10) and the cost of fitting it twice, £90.
I have sent 2 registered-letters, but had nothing back.

what do I do now? Is it worth a small claim? I feel I don't want them to get away with it!

Did you buy from a private seller or a shop? It makes a huge difference in the selling regulations etc.

It was an eBay shop.

Have you tried posting this in the Ebay board as well? There are some experts in there who might not check here...

Thanks hopefully - I will try that too
