UC - Cost of living payment

Hi,
I spoke to someone back in 2024 on the UC helpline. They said the COL payments were not included in capital and they will be disregarded indefinitely.

I am just about to go over the £6,000 mark for savings. This includes some of the money I got for COL ( I think about £700)

in total I got £1550 in COL payments, does this means my savings can go up to £7,550 before I have to declare?

Yes but you need to have the amount you're allowed adjusted. You'll need to send proof via your journal of the COL payments for a decision maker to alter the amount of capital you're allowed (madness as they should have a record!) but it needs to be done officially, you can't just go over the amount.

As above, even when you know it's disregarded you have to let them know and a Decision Maker will need to approve it.
