Hi. I have a phone review coming up with UC as I sent in statements . And in the statement theirs a few transactions from one of my old accounts. Theirs no name with the transaction is it the card number . It was dormant for many years but more recently I started moving money to it from my other accounts (which are declared) just a little 30 or 50 and by the end of the month I put it back in my other account. It mostly stays at zero. I just put money in it the odd time for budgeting reasons as I never use that account for anything.

The account was originally opened 20 years back and I had savings back then but it’s been at zero for at least 6 plus years. I’m wondering if it’s worth declaring I’m just thinking of all the mess and complications that will come with it but I’m so anxious about lying if they ask who has sent the money looking at the transactions . I feel so torn and guilty any advice is helpful

Hiding an account is far more likely to cause a problem than telling them about one is.

The various IT and reporting systems are improving, so the cross checks are slowly but surely getting better.

It’s been open over 20 years I’m just wondering how would I even go about backtracking statements

Did you not say you still have it? And move money in and out of it?

If you do, thats plenty of info to get past transaction history if needed.

Yes i can do that easily but I’ve been on UC since 2019 and this old account has been there for around 20 years. I’m just worried how they’ll react to me not mentioning that even though it hasn’t really been in use . It was a savings account 10 plus years ago but bit really active since

Don't worry too much.

They're only really going to be worried if money in the account meant UC would be reduced or transactions show you might be doing undeclared work.

Whatever you don't conceal anything; that will get you in hot water!!

i would declare the account but they also don't want statements going 20 years back. they're interested in the last 6 months or so. can you get statements for the last 6 months? if so nothing to worry about.

if not and it's not used and you can't get statements/don't want to declare it, just consider closing the account to avoid hassle.
