do you get more or less money if you work more hours (in the sense of what you are awarded) than they have put in the assessment?

Not sure. We get child TC, when I applied I was working full time, and when I got made reduntant, they didn't increase the payments so haven't a clue!

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 05/06/2008 20:20

just dh is down as working 39hrs a week, but he works (now) about 50? not sure if it affects my payments or not.
We get £580 a year in total so dont want to reduce it!!

it's based on income, not hours worked (although there is a minimum of 16 hours/week to qualify at all).

if his income or your income increases, this will affect your award.

Not sure my dp is down as working 50 hours as he does work this most weeks, do you want me to have a look on my form and see what it says for 50 hours? what does your dp get for 39hrs?

WingsofaAngel · 05/06/2008 20:22

I think the child tax element stay the same.
The working tax can go up or down depending on what you earn and the hours you work.
Remember that this years award is based on what you earned in the last tax year.

sillybillybee · 05/06/2008 20:23

There is a small extra amount of tax credit for working more than 30 hours.
Obviously the higher income may wipe that out easily though.

Just read my form & the hour sections go like this -

Under 16 hours a week.

At least 16 hours a week

30 hours a week or more.

So it would make no difference.
