However you can do this I know someone who did (not going to tell you who) pick a big company and call them up, and say I've lost my paper work but I am sure I am insured by you, and I need a copy of my paper work. They might just tell you who you are with. Else try it with the big names that you think you might have insured yourself with.

credit card company should be able to tell you who it is with if you paid for it by CC.

For future reference, almost all car insurance policies are now on computer; hence if you are in a collision and have a reg plate your insurer can check their insurer's details.
