Is it worth getting life insurance at aged 50? Is it possible to get it if you don't have a mortgage? Can someone recommend a safe lige insurance company? There arrvso many and i have no idea which one to choose.

Also, is it advisable to make a will at this age to ensure everything is guaranteed to be left to your child?

It’s always advisable to make a will: it ensures that your wishes are followed and makes it considerably easier admin-wise for those dealing with your estate.

I apologise for the typos... I posted in haste.

Make an appointment with an IFA, they're best placed to advise you on what's best for your personal situation. You can get life insurance without a mortgage but it may not be necessary, depends on your family set up and your liabilities.

I'm an IFA.

It would depend if the policy is held into a trust or not. And is do, how many trustees you have.

and yes OP, it's possible (totally possible) to get cover at your age. Even specific mortgage cover doesn't usually legally be have to be spent on a mortgage.

Sorry, I didn't make it clear, but my point was more in relation to the second part of the OP's post, which asked

'Also, is it advisable to make a will at this age to ensure everything is guaranteed to be left to your child?'

A good solicitor would take the OP through all the various different potential scenarios, including what the OP would want to happen if their child pre-deceased them.

I would put that in the will too.
