Bought 5 items from a shop, but one hasn't been put in the bag-what can I do?

Bought some clothes today-one item, priced at £39.99, wasn't placed in the bag but I've been charged for it, but have only just gone through my bag now. Am really stressed that I have just thrown £40 away, what can I do? HELP!

ring them or go in in the morning and try and see the same person that served you. They will probably remember you as it would of been left behind

Try going back to the shop and explain the situation. If they are a reputable shop they should have relised the mistake and have the item on standby waiting for you.

If they refuse you could always take things further and ask them (or their head office) to do a stock take - that will only work of course if the sales assistant didn't take your purchase home for themselves.

It's worth a go - the more fuss you create the more likely they are to relise that you'r not just chancing your arm to get a freebe!

That's true-I didn't really "fit in" in the shop, as it was a young 'uns uber trendy shop, so I stuck out like a sore thumb in my primark jeans with my muffin top and my "I was as cool as all of you once" face on-so he should remember me!

He he, I didn't even notice, and yes, it is late! Ha ha! They had cctv in the shop so I can always ask them to re-run it-I'm just worried as it's the 2nd most expensive thing on the receipt (and my 2nd favourite), so think they will think I'm trying to "do one".
