Is this your choice or is a creditor making you bankrupt? There still might be time to stop it, if you want to. Go to the Citizens Advice Bureau though, not one of the IVA firms that advertise on TV.

Bankruptcy is a big step, it can affect your ability to get credit and do quite a lot of jobs for a long time, so be sure it's what you really want/need to do.

I went through a bankrupcy in another country.

Let me tell you, you will feel SO relieved once it is done!

OMG, the buildup to my bankrupcy was awful!

My life was hell before it finally just had to go that way, I was a wreck waiting for the court date.

Then, I felt like I could get on with my life and start to put it all behind me.

mine wasn't so much bad money management as just extremely bad luck - made redundant during a crash in the US and could only find temporary work, then got divorced, then was struck by an uninsured drunk motorist when i myself had no insurance myself.

it sucked, but now it's over.

WingsofaAngel · 29/05/2008 19:16

The best thing we ever did.
I haven't had or wanted credit since and never will.
Good luck this is your new beginning.
Onwards and upwards.

mybrainaches · 29/05/2008 19:17

Blimey, that is a bad run of luck, most of mine is my own doing, though H is responsible for some, I was forever bailing him out.
