When did new claims for tax credits stop

Hi All,

Does anyone know when child tax credits stopped accepting new claims and it was compulsory to apply via universal credit? Ive googled and it’s very hard to find an answer.

im not trying to claim anything but wanted to know as I’m looking into something and this information would help.

I'm sure it was several years ago

2013 where I lived, not sure if that was the case in every area as we were in the first tranche

2017 or 2018

It was done area by area. Last new claims were Jan 2021 I think, but that was only for people with disabilities who were entitled to something called severe disability premium.

For most people, last possible claims would have been Dec 2018

Thank you all for commenting. I thought it was Dec 2018 in the area I’m thinking of as I found a gov schedule online but couldn’t find anything clear.
