Hi,

I'm a few hundred pounds overdrawn, nothing major but could do with just tightening my belt a little.

does anybody want to join me and share hints/tips/motivation & support?

Tonight I am going to meal plan for the next week until the end of June with an aim to keep costs under £30 a week

Also going to dig out some stuff to list on eBay at the weekend.

Anybody else got any ideas?

This sounds like a fab plan. I'll join you. I'm trying to not buy any food this week as I have a freezer full so I want to use this instead. However, I've spent £20 on fruit and bread. I've started buying ds jeans from the supermarket as they are half the price of Next, thus saving a bit. Paris here we come!

God, yes please. Am desperate to save money. It's awful, I never buy anything nice (ie, lovely clothes for myself or Harvey Nicks cosmetics), but we are always on the breadline. Argh.

My thing will be to write down EVERYTHING I spend. Like Weightwatchers. I'm joining WageWatchers.

lol, I also do WW from time to time when I need to get myself back under control. am doing WW at the minute as have put on 5lbs lately.

I did two weeks worth of plans last night and calculated my points for each day.. (got distracted)

I have looked out several pairs of shoes that I am going to list on eBay and I have brought lunch in to the office today so I shouldn't spend anything.

I am trying to work out how much 'cash' I need per month and am thinking about drawing out that amount when I get paid and then taking my debit card out of my purse for the month (now that would be frightening)

oops .. sorry .. mea cupla

attention span of a gnat that's my trouble

Twiglett · 15/05/2008 09:53

check your utility bills using the switching sites

ensure your overdraft is pre-agreed

Cappuccino · 15/05/2008 09:55

oh hello

I am trying to get food bills down

but dh has imposed a 'no lentils' crackdown

I have gone Too Far it seems

sophiewd · 15/05/2008 09:56

We have started doing this - we work out how much we need each week to cover outgoings and a treat for us and anything extra goes into savings.

Cappuccino · 15/05/2008 09:56

I have done my utility bills for the first time

dunno how I will be able to tell f they are different however with all the price rises

sophiewd · 15/05/2008 09:56

Actually that should be I

MascaraOHara · 15/05/2008 10:32

lol at 'no lentils'

yes my agreed o/d limit is huge (must be a good customer lol).

Definitely worth doing USwith. I save ~30 a month without even changin my provider which really suprised me.

Also shop around and change your home &/or car insurance provider I saved a significant amount doing that too.

Well I thought I'd post as the real work starts today for me.

I have withdrawn my budget (after bills etc) of £150 and I have taken my cards out of my purse.

I have written my shopping list for Saturday and I'm pretty sure I only need some household bits and fruit & veg.

I am going to the market for my F&V so that should be ~£5.. I still need to work out how much the household stuff will be.

I am nearly out of petrol but have decided that I am filling my tank on Saturday and not before.

30 days until I next get paid. If I can do this, I'll be out of my overdraft in one month.

It's going to be very hard for me

I'm feeling motivated though. My challenge to myself is to see how many days in a row I can go with out actually spending any money.

Day 1 is today (not spent anything yet)
