Credit card in my name

DH has just got his first credit card. He has got me one in my name. He says I can't add it to my app of the same bank. Am I being silly or to think that I can. I know the credit is in his name. But if I have my own card will I be able to see the account info as well?

If you are a secondary card holder you can’t normally see it on an APP as you are not authorised to see all of the details about the card.

Nope - he is the account holder, you are just an additional cardholder so no control over the account. A bit daft of him in my opinion.......he has all the risk.

dementedpixie · 28/03/2025 19:25

No you won't be able to see the card on your details as you're an additional card holder on his account rather than it being a joint account.

strawlight · 28/03/2025 19:26

No you can’t. It’s not your account, you can’t have a joint credit card account like you can with a regular bank account. You’re just a named cardholder. Enjoy!

It’s his credit card. Why don’t you believe him when he says that you can’t see all the information?

Aligirlbear · 28/03/2025 22:38

No your DH is the account holder with responsibility for the debt and all the risk - you are just an additional card holder

You can’t on a credit card but you can on AMEX see your transactions as a an additional cardholder.

How do you plan to use the card? Is it for credit or rewards. Will you pay it off in full each month or is 0% for a large purchase? I’ve use it for all these reason and have a strategy for each one.

I've always only had a secondary card on my husband's creditcard; we use it for most purchases and pay it off every month. It's convenient to have all spending in one place. Years back when we got paper statements, whoever had the time and inclination to keep an eye on things, or check something specific, could look at them easily. Now when it's all online, I find there is no provision to get access to the statement alongside our joint accounts. Problematic as I do most of the household spending, and at the moment am also the one moving money between current account and savings account. So I have to remember to check each month how much the next credit card bill is for ...

I do think it should be possible to request creditcard information be added to your online access if the primary cardholder agrees.
