Yes, what is your question?

Thanks Chec

Total Ill health retirement: this will be paid if you cannot find employment that pays a small fraction of the salary you were paid. What is a small fraction? If I earnt ÂŁ60k the small fraction would be ÂŁ6k?

Partial Ill health : can you work in another lower salary role somewhere else that pays less.

Any advice gratefully received

Total ill health retirement is where your illness means that you cannot do your particular job or any other job “other than” one that pays a small fraction of your salary. So if you cannot teach but you could possibly work a few hours a week in a shop earning very little then you might still qualify however each case is assessed on its own facts. It’s very difficult to get total Ill health retirement in a situation where you can still do some form of work however few the hours. It’s more likely you’d get partial Ill health retirement. Are you an active member (still contributing)?

Partial ill health retirement is where you can’t do your role or any similar role but you could possibly do something else so yes you can work elsewhere doing something totally different (but not something similar). So you could work in a cafe but you couldnt go from lecturing to teaching in a school or training in a consultancy business
